About GUSDA
The Guyana UK Social Development Association (GUSDA) is a registered charity dedicated dedicated to the provision of cultural and other activities primarily, but not exclusively, for people of Guyanese heritage in the UK. Our objective is to enhance the quality of life for individuals within the diaspora community and to promote Guyanese heritage.

We are also committed to the prevention or relief of poverty in Guyana. We achieve this by providing grants to individuals in need, as well as to charities and other organizations dedicated to preventing or alleviating poverty. Through our support, we aim to empower individuals and communities, fostering sustainable solutions that address the root causes of poverty and promote long-term prosperity and well-being.
Our Mission
At GUSDA, our mission is to help strengthen the community of Guyanese at home and in the United Kingdom by contributing to poverty alleviation, empowering individuals and communities, and fostering initiatives that contribute to nation building.

Our Vision
Our vision is to build a strong, cohesive community inspired by Guyana’s national motto: One People, One Nation, One Destiny.
Governance and Membership Structure
GUSDA, following its registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in March 2024, has restructured its governance and membership to align with its new constitution and strengthen its operational effectiveness. The Board of Trustees, currently comprising seven members, is responsible for strategic direction, governance, and overall financial and operational management. To ensure effective decision-making, the Board oversees key committees that support the organisation’s day-to-day operations.
GUSDA’s committees include the Executive Committee, responsible for operational management, and the Youth Committee (currently being constituted), which promotes youth engagement. Various ad-hoc Sub-Committees are also created to coordinate specific activities.
To encourage broader community participation, GUSDA has established two non-voting membership categories. Associate Members actively contribute at an operational level, serve on committees, and may be nominated as trustees. Volunteers support the organisation’s activities in accordance with its volunteer policy. Both categories allow individuals to engage meaningfully with GUSDA’s mission without holding formal voting rights under the Charities Act.
This governance and membership structure ensures accountability, fosters community involvement, and positions GUSDA to achieve its objectives effectively.
