


Guyana UK Teen Talent Competition

Rules of the Competition
1. The Guyana UK Teen Talent Competition (the Competition) is hosted by the Guyana UK Social Development Association and showcases the talents of young performers who sing, dance, recite poetry or play a musical instrument.
2. The Competition is open to teenagers from 13 to 18 years of age who were either born in Guyana or are of Guyanese heritage (at least one parent or grandparent should be Guyanese).
3. The Competition provides an opportunity for young people to pursue their dreams and to showcase their talent in front of a live audience.
4. Four or more contestants are required to create a separate category – Vocal (solo or duet); Dance; Poetry; Instrumental (solo or duet). The number of contestants will depend on the number of applications received by GUSDA
5. In the absence of a separate category, all contestants will be judged on the basis of their performance regardless of their category of choice.
6. Contestants will only be allowed one entry per category if separate categories are established.
7. GUSDA retains the right to cancel the Competition if less than four contestants are entered in the Competition.
8. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category or in the Competition is the absence of a category. The prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Prize: £100
2nd Prize: £75
3rd Prize: £50
9. Each act should not be longer than 5 minutes and must conform to the basic standards of decency and be family friendly.
10. The lyrics, actions, and dress code of any act must not be offensive otherwise contestants will be disqualified.
11. Each contestant must be present for the Competition at least an hour before the Competition begins.
12. GUSDA will not be held responsible for any damage, theft or injury of any kind to persons or instruments or other equipment at the Event.
13. GUSDA retains the right to use the contestant’s name and/or photograph for any further publicity purposes.
14. GUSDA retains the right of any final decision on any matters pertaining to the Competition that is not covered by these rules.
